Williams Lake Campground sits within the Salmon Field Office's mountain country, tucked into a stand of Douglas-fir roughly 19 miles south of Salmon, Idaho via Williams Creek Road and Williams Lake Road (you'll cross Shoup Bridge en route). The campground is small and simple: nine single-family campsites that accept both RVs and tents, each outfitted with an accessible picnic table, a campfire ring with grill, potable water and vault toilets. There are no electrical or sewer hookups, and the lower loop beyond Site 6 is not recommended for larger RVs or trailers, so drivers with longer rigs should plan accordingly. The sites do not offer lakeside views shade and wildlife habitat come from the surrounding trees rather than a waterfront outlook so expect a quiet, forested setting rather than an open-sky panorama. Recreation is centered on Williams Lake, which lies about two miles from the campground at the Forest Service boat dock and access area; the lake supports both motorized and non-motorized boating and is a popular spot for anglers. Beyond the shoreline, the broader Salmon Field Office lands open into motorized and non-motorized trail systems, hunting country and plentiful wildlife-viewing opportunities, with Shoup Bridge Campground and other trailheads nearby. The location is unstaffed; for current information on fees, reservations, seasonal openings, and any road or access advisories, call the Salmon Field Office at (208) 756-5400.
