Huckleberry Campground sits on the St. Joe River about 29 miles east of St. Maries along the St. Joe River Road and serves as a convenient riverfront base for anglers and RV travelers. The campground offers 31 total campsites 28 are designated RV sites and 3 are configured for both RVs and tents and the majority of sites include paved parking, potable water and electrical hookups, a picnic table and a camp fire ring. On-site amenities are straightforward and practical: six concrete outhouses, an RV waste dump station and an undeveloped boat ramp for launching small craft. Campsites are reservable through Recreation.gov (see the campground page for current fees, season dates and reservation rules); the campground's setup and hookups make it suitable for multi-night RV stays and day-use access to the river. This stretch of the St. Joe River is used heavily as a staging area for fishing and floating trips and as a crossroads for hunters and motorized-recreation users accessing surrounding U.S. Forest Service and Idaho Department of Lands roads. Primary on-site recreation includes RV camping, fishing and wildlife viewing, while the wider Coeur d'Alene Lake region adds opportunities for boating, water sports, hiking, hunting, picnic spots and interpretive experiences. Huckleberry's location between Calder and Avery means it's a practical stopover whether you're launching a drift-fishing trip, loading up ATVs for a forest-road run, or simply looking for a riverside site with basic hookups and easy access to the backcountry.
