“Stay was great ,the website wasn't the easiest to navigate AND i should state somewhere in there that you get charged for your spot and additional charge to reserve on each spot. Which i did not see anywhere. ”
“The campground is beautiful and quiet. It has a nice little creek that my kids and pups loved! The only downfall is the restrooms across from campsite 1 was in very poor condition. ”
“The campground is very clean with a lot of trees. The weather was nice and cool while Twin falls was at 90's. We stayed for one night and it was nice.”

Lower Penstemon Campground sits at about 6,600 feet on Rock Creek Road (Forest Road 515) in southern Idaho, offering a compact, forested base for exploring the local trail network. The site is set in a mixed conifer and aspen stand, where most campsites have partial shade, summer wildflowers appear along the edges, and wildlife sightings are common. Rock Creek runs alongside the campground and is known for good trout fishing, while several trailheads Third Fork, Pike Mountain, Rim View and Porcupine Spring begin nearby, making the campground a convenient jumping-off point for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders and off-road vehicle users. The campground is small and intimate: there are six single-family sites in total, and each site is designated for both tents and RVs, with picnic tables and campfire rings provided. Facilities are basic but functional vault toilets and drinking water are available, and roads and parking spurs inside the campground are gravel. Because the campground lies directly along the main Rock Creek Road, expect some noise from passing vehicles; plan accordingly if you need quieter nights. Access is by traveling roughly 27 miles south from Hansen on Twin Falls County Road G3, which becomes Forest Road 515 (Rock Creek Road); check current road conditions before you go. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal openings and any access restrictions, contact the Sawtooth National Forest office, and remember to follow fire regulations and Leave No Trace practices while using the site and nearby trails.
