“Campsite was great as always. Pit toilets are mid- they are what they are but well stocked with tp. Could use hand sani but i had my own. ”
“Beautiful site. Two tables and several tent sites. Nice spots for chairs out on the rim for the after climb beverage, in sun or shade. Slightly remote so it’s quiet with nobody walking by since it is at the end of the campground outside of the loop.”
“campsites and vault toilets were clean. great to be there mid-March before it gets crowded. ”

The Bank Campground sits roughly 15 miles north of Cañon City along Shelf Road, at about 6,890 feet, with long bands of pocketed limestone cliffs and stands of piñon and juniper forming the immediate landscape. The campground is open year-round and offers a total of 35 campsites: 22 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 13 that are tent-only, but sites are generally small and laid out for tent camping. The last mile into the campground is a steep, rough dirt road; while many sites are technically RV-capable, large motorhomes and travel trailers are not recommended because of the access. Each site includes a parking space, picnic table and metal fire ring; the campground has four vault toilets but no drinking water, no electrical hookups and no trash service, so bring your own water, firewood and be prepared to pack out all garbage. Individual sites are limited to two vehicles and eight people; group sites accept up to four vehicles and 20 people. Rates are modest $7 per night for individual sites and $14 per night for group sites with an $8 non-refundable reservation fee charged per reservation. What draws most visitors here is direct access to one of Colorado's premier sport-climbing areas: Shelf Road contains nearly 1,000 bolted limestone routes ranging from roughly 5.7 to 5.13, and from The Bank you can reach popular walls via the Cactus Cliff and Dark Side approaches. The campground also functions as a convenient base for nearby outdoor options hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and scenic 4x4 loops are all practiced on surrounding public lands, and anglers can hike down to Fourmile Creek for fishing. Day-use parking is available for recreationalists, and the Royal Gorge/Arkansas River corridor with its rafting, train and bridge attractions is a short drive away if you want to mix a climbing-focused trip with other regional highlights. For current conditions and more detailed route or road information, contact the Royal Gorge Field Office before heading out.
