About

Marvine Campground sits at 8,200 feet on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies in a tall stand of mixed conifers and quaking aspen, about 35 36 miles east of Meeker along Marvine Creek. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 23 the campground offers 17 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites alongside 6 Equestrian Sites, so it accommodates everything from small towable rigs and tents to stocked horse parties. Campsites are equipped with picnic tables and metal fire grates, and the site has vault toilets, a hand-pump for drinking water and trash service; there are no electrical hookups. If you're arriving with stock, the only public corrals are at the equestrian sites (corrals at the Marvine Trailhead are for Outfitter and Guide use only), and livestock can be watered in the stream about 200 yards from camp. For facility-specific questions call (970) 878-9253; note that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify your reservation. The campground is commonly used as a base for exploring the Flat Tops Wilderness: both Marvine Trail #1823 and East Marvine Trail #1822 begin nearby and lead to alpine lakes and high country East Marvine Trail goes up to Johnson Lake and toward Big Marvine Peak, and Marvine Trail provides direct access to Marvine Creek and Marvine Lakes. Anglers will find fishing in Marvine and East Marvine Creeks as well as at Marvine and Slide Lakes (which together total about 135 surface acres) where rainbow, brook and cutthroat trout are present. Hunters and horse riders value the area for access to extensive trail networks and some of the region's largest elk herds; wildlife viewing here can also include moose, bighorn sheep and high-country species such as pika and ptarmigan. The site's unadorned, lodgepole-and-aspen setting and direct trailhead access make it a practical choice for hikers, anglers, equestrians and anyone looking to get into the central Flat Tops quickly. Address: 32201 County Rd 8, Meeker, Colorado 81641.
