“Passing through. Spacious sites, beautiful view. Easy site rental with QR code at the entrance. Will definitely stay on our way back through.”
“Nice campground, but no shade at all. Was not busy, we had entire loop to ourselves. ”

Stevens Creek Campground sits on the north shore at the eastern end of Blue Mesa Reservoir, about 12 miles west of Gunnison along US Highway 50, and is the closest park campground to town. The site rests at 7,540 feet on a semi-arid, treeless mesa dominated by sagebrush, so campsites are exposed and very sunny with little natural shade. The campground contains 55 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, arranged into three main loops Loop A (20 sites), Loop B (18 sites), Loop C (16 sites) plus one designated Scan-and-Pay site. Many sites offer waterfront access and there's a picnic area and a self-pay/Scan-and-Pay station; potable water is provided seasonally (typically late May through mid-September). Note the Scan-and-Pay policy is final: payments are treated like cash in a fee tube, and no refunds, changes, or cancellations are allowed. What draws most people here is immediate access to Blue Mesa's wide water surface and the shallower eastern arm that's good for waterfowl viewing. Boating, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing and fishing are common from the campground shore, making it popular with water users; the broader Curecanti NRA also supports windsurfing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, swimming and wildlife viewing. Hikers can reach the 1.5-mile (2.4 km) Neversink Trail along the Gunnison River upstream of the reservoir, and a short run downstream brings you to the steep-walled Morrow Point and Crystal Reservoirs tucked into the Black Canyon. If you need supplies or a meal, Gunnison's small-town services and nearby trail systems such as Hartman Rocks are an easy drive from the campground.
