“Excellent campground. Good spacing of campsites and facilities.”
“Only one side of outhouse open The other side locked. Imagine so they only had to clean 1/2. They turn the electricity off for some reason. No snow not horrible cold! Needs to be noted on recreation site. ”

Junction Creek Campground sits on a sunny, south-facing hillside about a quarter-mile above Junction Creek at roughly 7,300 feet, shaded by ponderosa pine and gambel oak. The campground contains 30 sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, arranged as single- and double-family campsites; many of those sites offer electrical hookups. Each single and double site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring, and accessible vault toilets and drinking water are available on site. For larger groups there is a designated group campsite that can hold up to 50 people, and a separate accessible day-use picnic shelter with electricity that seats about 65. Group areas are outfitted with picnic and serving tables, campfire rings and grills, and have access to a volleyball court and horseshoe pits. The campground is right at the start of the Colorado Trail (also referred to locally as the Junction Creek Trail), which continues nearly 500 miles toward Denver and offers excellent hiking and mountain-biking opportunities; the nearby Logchute Trail System is another popular lift-off point for bikers. Anglers can try for rainbow and brook trout in Junction Creek chances improve upstream and broader forest recreation includes horseback riding and horse camping, OHV routes, wildlife viewing and winter sports across the San Juan National Forest. Junction Creek is easily reached from Durango: take 25th Street west from Main Street for just over three miles to the forest boundary and continue a little more than a mile to the campground entrance. Reservations are recommended; cancellations made up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee, cancellations the day before or day of arrival are charged a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the full amount), group facility cancellations within 14 days incur the $10 fee plus the first night's charge, and no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's rate and applicable taxes. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after checkout; in the event of an emergency closure all fees will be refunded.
