“This is a pretty campground with clean bathroom”
“Site 17 was nice and level with plenty of room. Took the trail down towards the river. Our first time to boondock (even though it was a developed campsite area) and feel more comfortable to do it again”
“Clean bathrooms. Beautiful scenery! Campsites 13 & 14 are perfect together for larger parties.”

At 1,960 feet above sea level, Burro Creek Campground sits where the upper Sonoran meets the lower Mojave, and that mix shows in the scenery: cliff walls studded with saguaros rise above a riparian ribbon of willow and cottonwood beside Burro Creek, while nearby slopes host cholla, barrel cactus, palo verde, and catclaw. The site is reached from Highway 93 by a short paved spur (about 1.5 miles from the signed turnoff), placing the campground roughly 60 miles northwest of Wickenburg and about 70 miles southeast of Kingman. There are 24 campsites in all 23 individual sites plus a group site and two day-use areas; all 24 campsites accommodate both RVs and tents. Amenities are straightforward and practical: shaded picnic tables, fire rings with grates at individual sites, grills in the group and day-use areas, two locations with flush toilets, one dump station, and drinking water at several points around the campground (no water or electrical hookups at sites). If you're towing a large rig, sites 1, 2 and 10 17 are laid out to ease maneuvering for Class A RVs and fifth wheels. Burro Creek is also a hands-on place for wildlife and geology: the creek's deep pools invite wading and rockhounding and draw a variety of birds and riparian mammals cactus wren, Gambel's quail, Gila woodpecker, great blue heron and occasional desert bighorn are among the regular sightings, and sites 7, 8 and 9 are noted as especially good for birding. The campground includes a Watchable Wildlife Exhibit and an Interpretive Desert Garden, and trails from the loop provide direct creek access; beyond the site, county dirt roads and public lands open up opportunities for sightseeing, OHV use and hunting (check with the local BLM office before heading out and exercise caution on unimproved roads). Reservations for the group site and for sites 7, 9 and 10 17 are available through Recreation.gov (must be made at least three days before arrival); sites 1 6, 8 and 18 23 remain first-come, first-served. Be aware of the Recreation.gov cancellation and no-show policies: a $10 service fee is withheld from refunds, late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) incur the $10 fee and forfeit the first night's fee (one-night reservations forfeited in full), group facility cancellations within 14 days forfeit the first night and pay the $10 fee, and no-shows are assessed $20 plus loss of the first night's fee. Seasonal notes: summers are hot and remote, while October through April usually brings much more comfortable temperatures and spring wildflower displays can appear March May depending on precipitation.
