“Great spot for a fall camping trip. Beautiful scenery. Lots of hiking and biking trails within an hour. Campground is well cared for including the leaves being blown of the campsite prior to arrival. One of my favorite trips.”
“My first time at this campground and found it convenient place to stay not far from the interstate. ”

Highland Ridge sits on the north side of the 150-acre Eau Galle Reservoir, opposite the dam, in a landscape of steep hills, bluffs, wooded valleys and streams that give the campground a sheltered, forested feel. Trails radiate out from the loops about seven miles worth for hikers with several overlook seating areas and a sandy swimming beach on the reservoir and horseback riders have their own routing through the lush hills. Anglers fish year-round on both the reservoir and the Eau Galle River that feeds it; paddlers commonly launch canoes and kayaks and small electric-motor boats, and the park supports broader water-based recreation and wildlife-viewing opportunities. During summer weekends the park ranger hosts interpretive programs on Saturday evenings, and environmental education is a regular part of the recreation offerings here. Practical camping at Highland Ridge is concentrated across 58 total sites: 36 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, 11 equestrian sites and 11 tent-only sites, with the equestrian facilities organized as a 10-site loop plus a one-site equestrian group loop. Campground infrastructure includes showers, water fill stations and a dump station, trash and recycling stations, an interpretive building, a playground, and equestrian amenities such as manure pits, hitching posts and vault toilets. Several sites offer electric hookups, including the equestrian loop, and there are walk-in tent options for lighter-footprint camping. The site is reached from the Spring Valley area roughly four miles south of I-94 (accessible via I-94 Exit 24), and because staffing is limited visitors are advised to call (715) 778-5562 for up-to-date information on reservations, fees and seasonal availability. Nearby diversions include Spring Valley Golf Course, Crystal Cave, the Red Cedar State Trail, local orchards and family attractions like Wakanda Water Park.
