“It is a nice site. The lake is beautiful but the fishing was lousy again this year.”

Lost Lake Group Unit sits on the northern edge of Lost Lake in the Tonasket Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee (Colville) National Forest, surrounded by mixed-conifer forest and mountains. The lake is a medium-sized body of water with a beach and an amphitheater within easy walking distance from the campground, and the setting supports abundant wildlife deer, porcupine, black bear, cougar, loons and bald eagles are regularly seen, while gray wolves and Canada lynx inhabit nearby ecosystems. Outdoor options concentrate on water and short hikes: anglers can launch from the campground boat ramp (electric motors only) to fish for rainbow and triploid eastern brook trout, and families can take the Big Tree Trail (0.8 mile, with a loop highlighting two roughly 600-year-old western larches) across the road from the guard house. For a steeper walk, the Strawberry Mountain Trail starts just outside the campground entrance and climbs about 1.5 miles up to Strawberry Mountain; wildflowers are particularly noticeable in June, and summers tend to be warm and sunny while winters bring clear skies and significant snow. The site you'll be booking is a single designated group campsite the verified campsite count is 1 configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and rated for groups up to 100 people. It comes with picnic tables, campfire rings, metal grills, drinking water and flush toilets; access to the lake beach, amphitheater and the on-site boat ramp is all within a short stroll. Fee structure is by group size: $40 for 1 25 people, $60 for 26 50, and $80 for 51 100. The campground is reached from State Route 20 about 24 miles east of Tonasket and then via Forest Service roads into the Bonaparte/Lost Lake area; when you enter the campground the group unit is the first site on the left beside the guard house. The campground also contains several non-reservable single and double sites, so check with the Tonasket Ranger District before you go for current road conditions, seasonal access and any reservation details you may need.
