“The lake and surroundings are just as beautiful as we remember from 13 years ago. ”
“Super nice camp host. Our group had the whole loop to ourselves. Was a perfect place. Something to do for everyone. ”
“Great place to camp. We had a good amount of space at our campsite. Easy water access for small boats or paddle boards. Staff was on top of changes in reservations and updated signs daily.”

Bonaparte Lake Campground sits on the southern edge of Bonaparte Lake, about 30 miles east of Tonasket off State Route 20 via the Bonaparte Recreation Area road (Okanogan County Road 4953). The campground occupies a mixed stand of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir at roughly 3,600 feet, with Bonaparte, Spur and Cumberland Mountains rising around the water; mule deer, elk, moose and the occasional black bear are seen here, and the lake attracts a variety of waterfowl including the rare northern loon. There are nine campsites in all, and each site is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents (some sites include tent pads). Sites come with picnic tables and campfire grills; drinking water is available in the campground and both vault and flush toilets are provided. For larger gatherings there is a group site with drinking water, picnic tables, campfire grills, a community fire pit, a group shelter and space for RV parking plus additional tenting. The lake is the focal point for activity: an on-site boat launch and an accessible fishing dock make boat fishing and shore fishing convenient, with rainbow, brook and cutthroat trout commonly targeted; paddling in kayaks or canoes and swimming are also popular. Trails begin right from the campground the Pipsissewa Trail can be accessed from the southern loop and leads about two miles to Pipsissewa Point for a lake overlook, and continuing onto the South Side Trail #308 extends roughly five miles up toward the Bonaparte Mountain fire lookout. Nearby campgrounds such as Lost Lake (about 10 miles away) and Beaver and Beth Lakes (around seven miles) broaden overnight options, and within a ten-mile radius you'll find interpretive and accessible trails, geologic features and scenic drives. Fees, reservation rules and seasonal road or water conditions can change, so check current Colville National Forest information before you go.
