“Beautiful spot, well maintained grounds.”
“Campground was clean and well-maintained. The host was diligent to upkeep amenities on a daily basis. The camp spot was large enough for two tents and all of our gear, plus it was a good distance away from the neighboring spots.”

Gifford Pinchot NF Mt Adams Ranger District

Beaver Campground sits beside the Wind River under a canopy of large maple and sycamore trees, offering a quiet, family-friendly scene where the river is the main draw. Anglers come here for Chinook salmon and steelhead trout (be sure to check Washington state fishing regulations for seasons and limits), and the nearby Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife hatchery is a springtime spot to watch returning Chinook. Paddlers can put kayaks and canoes on the Wind River, and the surrounding Mount Adams Ranger District part of the larger 1.3 million acre Gifford Pinchot National Forest provides access to hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and seasonal berry picking. The district contains diverse terrain from lowland wetlands and meadows to high-elevation glaciers and peaks (elevations in the district range roughly from 1,200 feet near the Wind River Work Center up to 12,276 feet at the summit of Mt. Adams), and Beaver is one of the closer Forest Service campgrounds to the Columbia River Gorge and Portland, Oregon; the small town of Carson, about a 13-mile drive south on the Wind River Highway, offers hot springs, an arboretum, dining and a golf course. The campground itself has 24 campsites that accommodate both tents and RVs, plus a group site that holds up to 50 people and 10 vehicles. On-site basics include vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables and fire rings; a swingset, playground equipment, an open activity field and a horseshoe pit make it a practical choice for families with kids. If you bring more than one vehicle, note the extra vehicle fee is $8. Reservation and cancellation rules are strict: individual campsite cancellations made up to two days before arrival incur a $10 cancellation fee, while cancellations the day before or on the arrival day incur a $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeited in full). Group facility cancellations less than 14 days before arrival are assessed a $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night; no-shows are charged a $20 service fee and lose the first night's rate. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after your reservation ends; in an emergency closure all fees will be refunded. The site has limited staffing for general information call (509) 427-3677.
