“first time trip using our recently purchased motorhome. site was perfect. Lake was beautiful and campground well maintained”
“Stickers, worst I’ve ever experienced! And, the bathrooms were scary (bugs, spiders) filthy. When the water level is low you have to walk out forever to get more than your ankles wet. The positives: nice water view sites. Pretty sunrises, and we spotted two bald eagles.”
“The only problem is the stickers are out of control.”

Rocky Creek Campground sits on a narrow peninsula along Somerville Lake, where open water edges up against stands of large trees that provide patchy shade and regular visits from pelicans and other waterfowl. The lake is the organizing feature here: registered campers have direct access to two on-site boat ramps and beaches for swimming and water sports, and anglers come specifically for crappie, catfish and both striped and largemouth bass fish in this system commonly reach 10 pounds or more. Trails around the lake support hiking and biking, and the broader Somerville Lake area also offers horseback riding, playgrounds, picnic areas and other concession services, with private lodging available nearby for visitors who want a room after a day on the water. The campground is located south of Brenham off Highway 36 and FM 1948, and the town of Somerville is less than 10 miles away for groceries, restaurants and supplies. The campground provides 147 campsites in total: 125 sites are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, while 22 are tent-only sites, so you'll find a mix of drive-in parking and more traditional tent spots. On-site facilities include flush toilets and hot showers, picnic tables and fire rings at individual sites, a group picnic shelter and a dump station; the group pavilion is available by reservation only. Two boat ramps on the property make launching easy for early-morning anglers, and boat trailers can be serviced at the dump station. Note that lake access and many day-use features are for registered campers only, so plan to check in and follow the park's registration procedures before using campground facilities.
