“Perfect location and spread out camp sites. Only reason didn’t get 5 stars was toilets. They were filthy and covered with spider weds. Considering there are only two at the whole campsite, more regular cleaning should be conducted. ”
“I did not get to use my reservation. As soon as I made reservation my grandson was taken to hospital so I had to go there. So no true rating for this visit.”

Murrell Park sits on the north shore of Grapevine Lake in Flower Mound, south of Denton and squarely inside the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex; the park's physical address is 880 Simmions Road. The campground is primitive and small there are 11 campsites total (site type breakdown: 11 both RV sites & tent sites) and none of the sites include electrical or water hookups. Each site has a campfire ring and grill and a picnic table, and a few provide picnic shelters; there are only two pit toilets on site and no shower or flush-toilet facilities. A community water spigot is turned on from spring through fall but may be shut off in winter months, so plan to bring your own water when camping. The park has both a low-water and a high-water boat ramp for lake access, and fees for camping increased to $14 per campsite as of January 1, 2023; note that the facility is open year-round and that there are no refunds for weather-related cancellations. The setting is strongly recreational: Grapevine Lake covers roughly 7,276 acres with about 60 miles of rolling shoreline and draws more than 2 million visitors a year, so activities spill naturally out of the campground. Murrell Park is used for picnicking, shoreline and boat fishing (expect crappie, catfish and bass), boating and water sports, and access to the well-known Northshore Trail for hiking and mountain biking. Motorized bikes, including e-bikes, and horses are not permitted on the Northshore Trail, and horses are not allowed inside Murrell Park itself (horse trails exist on the lake's south side and west end). Hunting is prohibited within the park. Wildlife is plentiful white-tailed deer, turkey, armadillos, rabbits and a variety of birds while the nearby city of Grapevine offers historical sites and visitor services if you want to combine a few urban conveniences with a lakeside camping trip.
