“It would be helpful to add Wi-Fi to Cranes Mill RV Park. I would be willing to pay a higher fee for that service.”

About

Cranes Mill Park sits on a long peninsula along the southwestern shore of Canyon Lake, about sixteen miles northwest of New Braunfels and roughly midway between Austin and San Antonio. The lake itself created when Canyon Lake Dam was finished in the 1960s has a limestone bottom that gives the water its clear blue tone and ranges from an average depth near 40 feet to spots as deep as 130 feet. At Cranes Mill you get distinctive light: sunrises spill across the open water to the east, while evenings tint the western shore where the Guadalupe River enters the lake, making the peninsula feel like two different lakeside moods depending on which side of the point you choose. Wildlife is visible from the campsites and shoreline trails white-tailed deer, armadillo, raccoon and fox are commonly seen, and songbirds such as cardinals, mockingbirds and finches move through the oaks and brush. The park provides two fishing piers and a boat ramp, and the adjacent marina and the broader Canyon Lake area support a wide range of activities including boating, kayaking, jet-skiing, waterskiing, guided gorge and river tours, horseback riding, hiking and river tubing; anglers will also find trout fishing in the Guadalupe River downstream toward New Braunfels. Practical amenities at Cranes Mill reflect its mix of tent and RV use: the park has 60 campsites total 26 RV sites and 34 tent sites with water and electrical available at most sites, plus a dump station. Restrooms with hot and cold showers and a park boat ramp with its own restroom make day-to-day camping comfortable, and large tracts of undeveloped land give a sense of separation and good wildlife-viewing opportunities. Reservations are handled through the park system and note that the reservation service may charge fees for cancellations or for changes to bookings (shortening or extending a stay, or transferring sites), so check the terms when you book; the park's gatehouse is located beyond the marina at the far end of the access road. To reach the park from I-35 north of New Braunfels, head west on FM 306 and follow FM 2673 out to the lake; because site amenities vary, confirm hookup availability and any seasonal rules when you reserve so you arrive prepared.
