“It's a beautiful, quiet campground right next to the Cumberland River. The staff was very friendly. We would definitely return.”
“We had a great time and this spot in particular was great for us as tent campers with stairs down to the water.”
“First time visit to Lock-A campground and I will come again. The campground was clean and well maintained. I had a tent site and was surprised to see concrete slabs or maybe just my site (39), but the view far out weighed the slab”

Lock A Campground sits on the north bank of Cheatham Lake, just upstream from Cheatham Lock and Dam along the Cumberland River in north-central Tennessee, roughly a 12-mile drive west from Ashland City via Cheatham Dam Road. The campground is small but well-equipped, with 45 total campsites: 37 sites accommodate both RVs and tents, one is RV-only, and seven are tent-only. Both RV and tent sites are wired for 50-amp electric service, and the campground offers hot showers, a dump station, a boat launch, a swimming area, a playground and a picnic shelter. Staff will hold a reserved campsite until 2:00 pm on the day following your arrival date; if you expect to arrive after that time it's a good idea to call the park attendant to let them know, because reservations that do not check in before 2:00 pm on that second day are subject to cancellation. Recreation at Lock A leans heavily on the lake and riverside landscape: boating, canoeing, swimming and a long fishing season are supported by the warm, temperate climate, and a boat launch on site makes early starts easy. The nearby Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail a 6.5-mile rails-to-trails route that crosses Sycamore Creek on a historic abandoned railroad trestle provides scenic hiking and runs through the broader recreation area; horseshoe pits and volleyball courts are also available for quick games. For family outings the campground's playground and picnic shelter are handy, while the adjacent Cheatham Dam Right Bank Recreation Area adds a beach and extra playgrounds. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts can explore Pardue Pond and Dyson Ditch wildlife refuges on the far side of the lake, and the park supports other services and activities commonly sought by visitors, including a concession site, picnicking, specialized sport sites and general wildlife viewing.
