Cherry Hill Campground is open April 1 through October 31 and sits along Highway 107 between Walhalla, South Carolina, and Cashiers, North Carolina, with the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River and many miles of hiking trails within easy reach. The site cluster is modest in scale 28 campsites in all with 19 sites configured for both RVs and tents and nine designated tent-only, so you'll find a mix of more vehicle-friendly pulls and quieter tent spots. Practical comforts are concentrated in the center of the loop: a potable water spigot, cooking grills, picnic tables and lantern posts, plus a restroom building equipped with flush toilets and hot showers. If you reserve a site, be sure to follow the posting policy by leaving either your confirmation letter, your reservation number, or the name on the reservation on the clipboard at your site. Cherry Hill functions well as a basecamp for the larger Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests activities across the forest include hiking, fishing, boating, biking, horseback riding and horse camping, hunting, off-highway vehicle use, wildlife viewing, and picnicking. At the campground itself you'll primarily be camping and accessing nearby trailheads or river access points; the combination of basic site amenities and proximity to the Chattooga makes it a practical choice for day hikes, angling outings, and overnight stays with both tents and RVs. Road access is straightforward from the valley highways that connect Walhalla and Cashiers, and the modest number of sites keeps the feeling closer to a quiet forest stop than a large developed park.
