Dennis M ★ 4 · Sep 2025I always enjoy my time there. I found a great spot this year. It's great that water and a dumpstation are included. I would pay extra if they made a few spots electric. It's not easy to get solar and if you require a sleepap you need electric. The ranger and maintenance guy helped me look for my cat that had escaped from the RV and went down the culvert. The only issues I had were the urinals in the restroom are set up for people over 7' tall. And there were some teens staying up at that end driving in and out all night at a fairly high rate of speed and blaring their music. Some people leave their fires smoldering and leave messes. I go around and put any fires out. There are dumpsters so there's no excuse of leaving garbage laying around when they leave.
Daniel L ★ 3 · Aug 2025The campsites are very close together, with little to no privacy between them. During my weekend stay, the campground was completely full, which made it feel quite crowded. Some campers stayed up chatting and playing music (not extremely loud, but noticeable and a bit disruptive in a natural setting) even past the designated quiet hours. On the positive side, the bathrooms were clean and well-maintained, and the campground hosts were friendly and accommodating.
Connor N ★ 4 · Jul 2025Been going to Crooked Creek for awhile now and never camped there till recently. It was a wonderful experience with lots of wildlife right outside our tent. Swimming and fishing wasn't far away either, no more than a 5 minute dtive! The rangers that were working while we were there was helpful and very nice. Definitely gonna be booking again soon!!

Crooked Creek Lake sits among the rolling hills about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, where a long, irregular shoreline opens into water-based recreation and a compact family campground. The site offers 51 total campsites: 6 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, 16 RV sites, and 29 tent sites, laid out within easy reach of the lake's sandy peninsula beach and a boat launch with ample trailer parking. On the recreation side you'll find waterskiing and general boating, a good bass, muskie, sunfish and crappie fishery, and several picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills; six larger picnic shelters are available for groups. Park pavilions are clustered near services Independence Pavilion (on the beach road) has a ball field and horseshoe pits with a flush restroom nearby, Heritage Pavilion (on Overlook Road) overlooks the dam and control tower and has horseshoe pits and a nearby flush restroom, and Justice Pavilion (behind the park office) provides a quieter spot with a small pond, access to the on-site 9-hole disc golf course, and a nearby vault toilet. The lake is also rich in history and trails: Crooked Creek Rangers worked with local historians to create the Corps' first Auto Tour Trail, which highlights Armstrong County stories from one-room schools of 1867 to the first water-powered sawmill and Revolutionary War depreciation land grants. Longer-distance recreation is close at hand the 141-mile Baker Trail crosses the lake, the Crooked Creek Outdoor Discovery Center runs environmental programs for groups, and a horse park with staging and miles of riding trails is about two miles from the park. Because specific fees, reservation windows, seasonal openings and cancellation rules are not posted here, plan to check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project office or the park's official website for up-to-date campground fees, reservation procedures, and seasonal availability before you go; the site is reachable from the Pittsburgh area via PA-28/PA-66 toward Manor Township and is signed from local routes.
