“Nice campground. Sites are mostly wooded and all have a fire ring and picnic table. I would’ve given it a higher rating but we had several items stolen from our campsite during the day while hiking. (Chairs, hammock, light.) Beware. ”
“Excellent location . Sites almost always available ”

WHITE MOUNTAIN
Open in Google Maps ↗
White Ledge Campground sits just off State Route 16 about five miles south of Conway, New Hampshire, and is a compact, easy-to-manage place to base a White Mountains visit. The site contains 13 campsites in two small loops: seven sites are sized to accommodate both RVs and tents and six are tent-only, all shaded by a mixed stand of white pine and hardwoods. A grassy play area separates sites and gives space for kids or a game of frisbee, and accessible restrooms and a hand pump for drinking water are provided on-site. There are no showers or a dump station at White Ledge, and traffic noise from Route 16 can be noticeable on some sites, so plan accordingly. Because services are limited and seasonal dates, fees and reservation policies can change, check the White Mountain National Forest recreation page before you go for current information and any access requirements. The campground is a short drive from an immense variety of outdoor opportunities: hiking trails and rock-climbing routes, scenic overlooks, and rivers and streams where anglers pursue stocked and wild trout. Within a broader day-trip radius you'll find the Kancamagus Highway for scenic driving, the Presidential Range (including 6,288-foot Mount Washington) and roughly 1,200 miles of trails in the forest about 160 miles of which are part of the Appalachian Trail. The region supports year-round recreation (biking, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, winter sports) plus interpretive programs and events at nearby sites; Jigger Johnson Campground, for example, runs educational programs on Saturday nights. Wildlife is part of the experience here moose, white-tailed deer and black bear live in the forest, and nearly 200 bird species, including the rare Bicknell's Thrush, are found in the area while Conway and North Conway are only a short drive away for groceries, restaurants and other services.
