“We have been camping at this location many years. We love the peaceful nature of the site. They need to be stricter on enforcement of quiet times and people playing music during the day. The camp hosts were overstretched covering 3 sites. ”
“We've been to Covered Bridge Campground many times and it is our all time favorite! Clean, secluded sites, quiet, conveniently located!”

COVERED BRIDGE
Open in Google Maps ↗
Covered Bridge Campground sits in an old hardwood forest along the Swift River, about six miles west of Conway on the Kancamagus Highway. The site is laid out in two loops and offers 29 campsites in total 21 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 8 tent-only sites giving a compact, woodsy feel rather than a wide-open RV park. Basic amenities are straightforward: accessible vault restrooms and a hand pump for water are provided, but there are no showers or dump station on site, so plan accordingly. Note an important access restriction: vehicles 7'9" or taller cannot pass through the covered bridge on the approach and must use an alternate route north of Conway; if you're driving a tall RV or a vehicle with roof gear, factor that into your route planning. The campground places you in the heart of White Mountain National Forest recreation. The Kancamagus Highway a National Scenic Byway that runs east west past the site is famous for fall foliage and links to trailheads, viewpoints and river pullouts; the cool, cascading Swift River alongside the campground is a common spot for wading and brook trout fishing in summer. Walkable trails include a 3-mile Boulder Loop and a half-mile nature trail accessed nearby, and more ambitious hikes into the Presidential Range (including Mount Washington) are within about an hour's drive. Wildlife is abundant in this part of the forest moose, white-tailed deer and black bear are present, and nearly 200 bird species, including the rare Bicknell's Thrush, inhabit the area. For services beyond the basics, Conway and North Conway are a short drive away with shops, restaurants and outfitting services. For current fees, reservation rules and seasonal openings, consult the White Mountain National Forest website before you go.
