Arrowhead Campground sits on the wooded shore of 5,000-acre Badin Lake in the Uwharrie National Forest, where stands of pine, oak and hickory shade campsites laid out mostly in one large loop with a smaller side loop for tent-only sites. The campground has 48 total sites: 42 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 6 tent-only sites, and most sites are accessible. Sites come equipped with picnic tables, tent pads, lantern posts and campfire rings with grills; electrical service (50-amp, 30-amp or 110-volt outlets) is provided at sites 12 45. Practical conveniences include hot showers and flush toilets, a dump station located across from the pay station, and a campground host on site. Arrowhead is open year-round; visitors should contact the Uwharrie National Forest or the Badin Lake Recreation Area for up-to-date information on fees and reservations. The campground is a convenient base for water- and trail-based recreation. Badin Lake invites swimming, boating and shore picnics, and anglers will find ample opportunity to fish the 5,000-acre lake. The surrounding recreation area offers about 40 miles of non-motorized trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, plus roughly 17 miles of motorized trails for off-road vehicle riding; hunting and wildlife viewing are also part of the landscape. Summer days are hot and humid (upper 80s to 90s), winters typically range from the low 30s to the upper 50s, and spring and fall are mild with highs in the 60s and 70s seasonal weather to plan around depending on your activities. For families, a small theme park with a petting zoo, nature center and mini golf sits within roughly an hour's drive, and the campground is reached from Troy by following State Highway 109 north and local county roads toward Mullinix Road and the Badin Lake recreation access.
