“The campground and its vicinity to the river were great The train however makes it a “not again” destination. Heavy sleepers would be ok. I didn’t hear the trains but everyone else did. ”
“Campground was very clean, everything was as described, and we would stay there again. We picked the campground as the staging point for our ride on the Hiawatha Trail.”

Sloway Campground sits just off Interstate 90 in the Clark Fork valley, about an hour west of Missoula and a short drive from the small towns of Superior (to the east) and St. Regis (to the west). The paved loop is flat and shaded by pine trees, with the Clark Fork River running along the south edge and a primitive boat launch for anglers and small craft. There are 28 sites in all: 15 that accept both RVs and tents, 12 RV-only sites, and one equestrian site. Twelve of the sites are pull-through and can handle rigs longer than 35 feet; every site includes a parking space, picnic table and fire ring. Basic services on-site are potable water, vault toilets, trash collection and a camp host, and the day-use area has a volleyball net and horseshoe pits. Be aware that the campground lies very close to I-90 and a main rail line, so traffic and train noise are a regular part of the soundscape. The campground works well as a base for river recreation and short forest outings: it's within easy reach of Clark Fork launch points (Alberton Gorge is about 21 miles east) and can accommodate small to medium groups headed downstream. Sloway is one of three full-service campgrounds along I-90 between Idaho and Missoula and offers an equestrian corral for riders who want to access nearby trails. Some sites are reservable specifically sites 1 10 and 21 25 while others are first-come, first-served (sites 11 20 and 26 27); for current fees, seasonal openings, and to confirm site availability call the Lolo National Forest or check the Forest Service reservation system before you go. Access from the interstate is straightforward: take Exit 43 (Dry Creek) or Exit 37 (Sloway) and follow the short paved approach into the campground.
