“Weather was great part of the time and location great!”
“My sister and I had a lovely time at the campground. Very clean, pretty quiet and well maintained. However, not really a great spot for tent campers and next time in the area, I’d likely camp at Lake Wapapello State Park. ”
“Such a beautiful place. Got sites easily on Recreation.gov. Site was pretty level. Full hookups and with our Senior Pass about $14/night. Who could ask for more??”

Redman Creek Recreation Area sits along Wappapello Lake and the St. Francis River in southeast Missouri's Ozark foothills, where wooded shorelines give way to a large lake with coves, islands and broad stretches of public land. The campground offers 112 sites in all: 102 sites set up to host both RVs and tents with 50-amp electric, water and sewer hookups, four tent-only sites, and six non-electric boat-in island sites (the ISLA loop contains those six island sites). The developed Redman camping complex is divided into multiple loops Redman East (REAS) contains 51 sites and both East and West loops include a playground and shower house; several restroom facilities were replaced in 2021. Day-use facilities concentrate nearby and include a visitor center, 17 picnic sites, four reservable group shelters, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, tennis and basketball courts, and an accessible fishing pier, while a four-lane boat ramp with a courtesy dock and a seasonal swimming beach provide direct access to the water. Trail opportunities and on-water recreation define much of the visitor experience. A newly paved multi-use Lake View Trail begins at Redman East and links multiple trailheads around the dam area, and the park is one of nine trail systems on Wappapello Lake that together offer routes for hikers and bikers of varying abilities; the accessible Shell Lake Archery Trail is a distinctive, specialized loop for archery enthusiasts. Anglers, kayakers and boaters will find plenty of shoreline to explore, and hunters and wildlife viewers use the surrounding public lands and nearby attractions such as Pine Ridge Nature Trail, the Wappapello Wildflower areas, Mingo National Wildlife Refuge (about 12 miles away), Lake Wappapello State Park (about 17 miles) and Sam A. Baker State Park (about 34 miles). Redman Creek is reached from the regional highways that run south of St. Louis and north of Poplar Bluff; staffing is seasonal (typically mid-March through early November), so campers should check current staffing and make inquiries at (573) 222-8233 during the staffed season or (573) 222-8562 for general information in the off season, and confirm fees and reservation policies before arrival.
