Bluff View Campground sits on the shore of Clearwater Lake amid the rolling hills of the Ozarks where the lake's Black River fed water cuts into bluffs, bays and coves carpeted in wildflowers such as sweet william. The campground is a good base for anglers both experienced and beginners who come for the lake's reliable fishing, and for paddlers and powerboat users taking advantage of the boat ramp and water-sport-friendly shoreline. A swimming area is provided for warm-weather dips, and a loop of hardwood forest that begins at the campground, the Bluff View Nature Trail, offers close-up wildlife viewing: wetland waterfowl, fox, deer, turkey, geese and even a year-round bald eagle presence. Trails and park roads support hiking and biking, while the broader Clearwater Lake recreation area includes picnic spots, a concession site, playgrounds and other day-use facilities. The campground has 58 sites in four loops Loop A has 13 sites, Loop B 20, Loop C 19 and Loop D 6 and is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents: 57 sites are configured for both RVs and tent camping and one site is tent-only. Many sites offer electric and water hookups, and the park provides a dump station, hot showers, an interpretive trail, public phones and a playground. Bluff View lies about 7 miles northwest of Piedmont, accessed from Highway 49 onto Highway AA; the AA road leads directly into Bluff View Park. For up-to-date fees, reservation windows, seasonal opening dates and any vehicle or access requirements, check the park's official information before you go. Nearby attractions include several state parks (including Sam A. Baker), local golf courses, a historic Civil War site at Fort Benton, and classic regional drive-in theaters.
