“We have been camping here for years! We have seen different camp host over the years. The host that are there now are awsome! ”
“Great place for swimming, fishing and hiking. Pere Marquette River for the first 2 activities and the North Country Trail is near by for the the third. There is some road noise but quiets down at night. Pit toilets that are cleaned a couple of times a day. ”

Bowman Bridge Campground sits along the clear water of the Pere Marquette National Scenic River in the northern Lower Peninsula section of the Huron-Manistee National Forests, about five miles west of Baldwin. The camping area is wooded but, because a tornado moved through in 2005, the canopy is more open here than at some neighboring sites you'll still get tree cover and a feeling of being in the forest, but more sun on the ground. There are 17 campsites in total: 13 sites configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and 4 tent-only sites. The surrounding public lands open up for hiking, birdwatching, photography and hunting, and nearby points of interest include the Bowman Lake Foot Travel Area and the historic community of Idlewild. Recreation at Bowman Bridge centers on river access and trails: paddlers use the campground as a launch point for canoeing and other water sports on the Pere Marquette, while anglers chase brown trout, salmon, steelhead and rainbow trout. Two liveries in Baldwin rent watercraft if you don't bring your own, and note that a floating permit is required from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through the Monday of Labor Day weekend; during that permit season watercraft are allowed on the river from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hikers can reach the North Country National Scenic Trail from a campground connector that long-distance route stretches roughly 4,600 miles across seven states. For fees, reservation rules, and seasonal details (including any closures or additional regulations), check with the Huron-Manistee National Forest office before you go.
