Holly Bay sits on the west shore of Laurel River Lake about two miles north of the Laurel River Dam, where the Appalachian foothills drop into a lake with 5,600 acres of clear water and roughly 192 miles of cliff-lined shoreline. Sites are threaded through mixed hardwoods that put on strong fall color, and several campsites look out directly across the water, so mornings often begin with still reflections and the sound of boats easing past the cove. The campground is a practical base for water-focused days: power boating, water skiing, canoeing and fishing are the main draws, and a public boat ramp and a fish-cleaning station sit a short distance from the loops. Hikers can follow the 4.2-mile stretch of the Sheltowee Trace Trail that leads from the campground to the dam, and the wider Daniel Boone National Forest offers a range of other activities from biking and wildlife viewing to interpretive programs and hunting for people who want to extend their outings beyond the lakefront. Holly Bay has a total of 70 campsites, all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, arranged across six loops: Loop A (12 sites), Loop D (10 sites), Loop E (7 sites), Loop F (11 sites), Loop G (12 sites) and Loop H (18 sites). You'll find a mix of single and double-family sites, and some sites include 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric hookups; flush toilets (one accessible), two shower houses, potable water and a dump station serve the campground. Firewood and ice are sold on-site, and educational programs are offered during the summer months.
