Bulger's Hollow Recreation Area sits on the bank of the Mississippi River about 7.5 miles north of Clinton, Iowa, reached by following Highway 67 and then a short, mostly gravel mile to the park entrance. The site looks out over Pool 13 and a broad field of lily pads that anglers favor for bass and panfish; a gravel boat launch gives direct access to the pool and makes the campground a common put-in for people chasing backwater sloughs and quiet fishing spots up and downriver. The stretch of river here is part of the larger Mississippi River Pools 11 22 project, so winter eagle watching, seasonal interpretive programs, and river-side hiking are part of the broader experience even if this little campground itself is compact. Nearby attractions in Clinton and Fulton from Lock and Dam 13 to small museums, arboretums and a winery are all within easy driving distance if you want to mix a town visit into a riverside stay.
