Dent Acres sits along the long, forested shoreline of Dworshak Reservoir in central Idaho's Clearwater Valley, where steep, timbered slopes and a scattering of small creeks drop to a 54-mile lake that supports kokanee salmon, rainbow trout and smallmouth bass. The setting is oriented toward water recreation: a convenient boat ramp gives direct access to broad open water for boating and water-skiing, and the surrounding public lands and trail network invite hiking, wildlife viewing and hunting. The broader area also holds several visitor draws within easy reach the dramatic 717-foot Dworshak Dam and its visitor center, the world's largest steelhead hatchery at Dworshak, and the nearby Dent Bridge (about a mile east of the campground) so days can be split between shoreline activity, interpretive exhibits and short scenic drives into Clearwater National Forest. Access from Highway 12 is straightforward: cross the bridge at Orofino, take Highway 7 to Dent Bridge Road and follow it roughly 19 miles to the campground turnoff. The campground itself provides straightforward, serviceable facilities geared to both RVers and tent campers: there are 52 total campsites, 51 of which accommodate both RVs and tents and one that is tent-only. Sites are arranged across one group camp and several numbered loops sites 1 7 (7 sites), sites 8 15 and 31 36 (14 sites combined), sites 16 30 (15 sites), and sites 37 50 (14 sites) plus a sun shelter area for gatherings. Most campsites include potable water, 50-amp electrical and sewage hookups, a fire pit and a covered picnic table; the campground also offers flush toilets, shower rooms, a playground, ample open play space, multiple large trash dumpsters and a fish-cleaning station near the boat ramp. A large open shelter on site can hold up to about 75 people for group meals or meetings. Practical details such as fees, season dates and reservation policies aren't listed here check with the managing agency before you go but the layout and hookups make Dent Acres a practical base whether you're towing a large rig, launching a boat for a day on Dworshak, or pitching a tent and exploring the woods.
