Bell Bay Campground sits on the southeast shore of Coeur d'Alene Lake just north of Harrison, Idaho, and is split into an upper loop perched on a small hill with lake views and a lower loop that runs along a short shoreline ridge. The site footprint is small 16 campsites in total and is a mixture of setups: 11 sites are sized to accommodate both RVs and tents while five are tent-only. Six single-family sites can be reserved in advance; the remaining sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and there's a separate group loop that can host up to 60 people. Basic amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, and campfire rings; the lower loop also has two docks where boats can be moored (the walk up from the docks is fairly steep but short). Access is from the I-90/Pinehurst corridor via Highway 97 and East Point Road (Road 314), placing the campground within the mixed Ponderosa and pine forests that characterize this portion of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Recreation at Bell Bay is very much water- and shoreline-focused: Coeur d'Alene Lake covers roughly 50 square miles and supports fishing for trout, salmon and panfish, as well as swimming, canoeing and powerboating right from the campground. A one-mile Bell Bay Trail follows the lakeshore and is popular for short hikes and wildlife viewing; beyond the immediate campground the Idaho Panhandle National Forests offer additional opportunities for biking, auto touring, horseback riding, OHV use, hunting and longer hiking routes. Practical note: bring boat gear if you want to take advantage of the docks, and check current Forest Service information for fee schedules, reservation availability and seasonal openings before you go.
