Bridgeview Park sits on the shoreline of Rathbun Lake in the rolling Chariton River Valley of southeast Iowa, about 13 miles northwest of Centerville and accessible from Moravia by heading west on Highway J18 and following park signs. The campground contains 95 campsites in total, each sized to accommodate both RVs and tents, and the layout is an open, grassy terrain dotted with shade trees that frames long views across the water. Campground facilities include flush and pit toilets, showers, potable drinking water, a dump station and a boat ramp, plus family-friendly amenities such as a playground, horseshoe pits and a day-use group picnic shelter that holds up to 24 people. Wildlife sightings are common bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese and wild turkey frequent the shoreline and nearby woodlots so bring binoculars and expect a landscape that shifts from quiet reed-lined coves to wind-swept open water. The lake itself expands the options: Rathbun's 11,000 acres are known locally for strong winds that favor sailors and for productive fishing that highlights crappie, channel catfish, walleye and largemouth bass. Bridgeview is a convenient launching point for powerboating, sailing, water sports and swimming; the wider Rathbun area also supports biking, hiking, auto touring and winter activities when conditions permit. Nearby attractions that complement a stay at Bridgeview include the Rathbun Fish Hatchery by the main dam, which offers self-guided tours Monday through Friday year-round and produces large numbers of catfish and walleye, and southern Iowa's only Off Highway Vehicle Park located roughly three miles to the south in an old rock quarry.
