“Springfield is a great campground. Many spots to choose from right on the water. I love that there's no light pollution and night and it was far enough away from main roads to be quiet. ”
“What a beautiful campground! The gate attendant was friendly and helpful and we had a great experience there. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer.”

Springfield Campground sits on about 60 acres of mostly Virginia pine with patches of mixed hardwoods, offering a shady, wooded basecamp on the South Carolina side of Hartwell Lake. The Corps of Engineers operates the area and provides 79 public campsites 78 that accommodate both RVs and tents and one RV-only site each with full water and electric hookups, plus two park-attendant campsites. Amenities are substantial for a Corps campground: six comfort stations (four with showers), a dump station, paved roads and parking, three playgrounds for kids, a gatehouse entrance, and two small support sites. Water access is immediate there's a boat ramp and a courtesy dock adjacent to a designated sandy swim area/beach and fishing is a main draw on Hartwell where anglers chase largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass across nearly 56,000 acres of water and 962 miles of shoreline. Practicalities are straightforward but firm: Springfield accepts reservations through the Corps' system and changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee; cancellations made the day before, or up to the day after your scheduled arrival, will also be charged the first-night use fee. Reserved sites are held until 2 p.m. on the day following your scheduled arrival; if you don't arrive by that time your reservation will be cancelled, you'll forfeit the first night's fee and be charged a $20 service fee (if your reservation was for one night and you were already charged the first-night fee, the $10 fee does not apply). Refund requests must be made no later than 14 days after your scheduled departure by contacting NNRS Customer Service at 888-448-1474; card refunds go back to the original card and cash/check refunds are issued by check and may take up to eight weeks to process. The campground is accessed off Interstate 85 near Anderson follow Highway 187 south to Providence Church Road and is a short drive from Clemson and Clemson University for grocery, fuel and dining options.
