“Was there on a Monday night and stayed in one of the sites along the river. Was a great site and being a Monday - off season I had no neighbors. The show house is in the upper campground was clean, well lite, and shower was hot.”
“It was really good. It would just be better if there was cell service in case there was an emergency ”
“Very nice park, quiet and clean. We would definitely come back here. ”

Burchfield Branch Park sits on the forested shore of Holt Lake along the Black Warrior Tombigbee Waterway, northeast of Tuscaloosa and within easy driving distance of the Birmingham area. The shoreline here is lined with hardwoods that put on clear fall color, and the shallow banks make for easy swimming, shoreline fishing and family-friendly picnicking. Anglers will find bass, crappie, bream and catfish both from shore and by boat; boat launching ramps are available at nearly all Corps of Engineers public recreation areas on the BW&T system, and three private marinas in the region provide fuel, repairs, supplies and rentals for longer outings. Families will appreciate two playgrounds on site, a reservable group picnic shelter for day use, and regular wildlife sightings deer, wild turkey, squirrels and a variety of migratory and resident songbirds including bluebirds. The campground itself contains 37 campsites: 35 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and two tent-only sites. The park offers electric and water hookups at most sites, hot showers, a dump station and trash receptacles, making it practical for extended RV stays as well as shorter tent trips. Recreational options across the Black Warrior and Tombigbee Lakes include boating, water sports, hiking, biking, picnicking, playgrounds, historic and cultural sites and wildlife viewing, so you can mix quiet shoreline time with more active days on the water. Burchfield Branch is reached via Lock 17 Road off County Road 59 from the Tuscaloosa/Brookwood corridor or by following Warrior River/Lock 17 Road from the Birmingham direction; for current fees, reservations and seasonal information (temperatures commonly reach the 80s 90s from April through September and annual rainfall averages about 60 inches), check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or park reservation site before you go.
