“Clean comfortable camp sites with water and toilets, next to the ocean. Can’t beat that!”
“Awesome Campground for a tent, RV or car camping! BRING FIREWOOD! No firewood was a HUGE disappointment!!!!! Make sure to reserve a spot before you arrive or you will risk not getting one.”

Auk Village Campground sits above Auk Bay in a stand of western hemlock and Sitka spruce about 15 miles from downtown Juneau and roughly 1.5 miles from the Alaska State Ferry terminal at Auke Bay. The loop holds 11 total campsites; all 11 sites accommodate both RVs and tents and range in length from about 14' to 35', so they work for smaller towable rigs and tent setups. Facilities are concentrated in a single central area that includes a vault toilet, garbage cans, a display board and bear boxes; there are five drinking-water spigots scattered through the campground, a dumpster, and a parking area for day use. A trail beginning at the parking lot drops down to the ocean and connects you to Pt. Louisa and the larger Auk Recreation Day Use area, making the campground a convenient jumping-off point for short hikes and shoreline access. The immediate area supports a wide range of outdoor pursuits: fishing, wildlife viewing (black bears and other species are commonly seen, so use the provided bear boxes and follow bear-safety practices), kayaking, motor boating, picnicking, berry picking, rafting, sailing, bicycling and glacier viewing from nearby vantage points. Auk Recreation Area's shorefront day-use facilities shelters, picnic tables, drinking water and fire rings are within easy reach, and Auk Bay Harbor hosts commercial outfitters offering sport fishing, kayak rentals and whale-watching tours. Practical details such as fees, reservation policies and seasonal availability are not listed here, so check current Tongass National Forest information or the local ranger station before you go to confirm rules, permits and road access.
