About

East Fork Campground sits on the shore of East Lynn Lake along the East Fork of Twelvepole Creek, about a half-hour drive southeast of Huntington if you follow Highway 152 through Wayne and then east on Route 37 to the lake. The reservoir itself runs roughly 12 miles up Twelvepole Creek and offers some 44 miles of shoreline framed by gently rising wooded hills of roughly 600 feet upland hardwoods that shelter deer, black bear, wild turkey, raccoons and a variety of waterfowl. The water is the main draw: boating, water-skiing, canoeing and swimming are common in summer and a boat ramp is available right at the campground. Anglers come for a long species list (29 species recorded) including largemouth, smallmouth and striped bass, black crappie, red-breast sunfish, walleye, channel catfish and muskellunge. Hikers have options too; the campground is the trailhead for the 1.5-mile East Fork Trail and connects you to longer routes such as the Damsite, Overlook and Lakeside trails, while the nearby 25,000-acre East Lynn Lake Wildlife Management Area opens up additional hunting, fishing and backcountry hiking opportunities. Practical details are straightforward: East Fork provides 160 campsites in total 159 sites equipped to accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site with electrical and/or water hookups available at many sites. The facility lineup includes flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station, plus on-site recreation features like an amphitheater, playground and basketball and volleyball courts. Current 2024 camping rates are $30 for regular sites and $40 for waterfront sites; reservation windows, seasonal openings and any access requirements are managed by the campground's operators, so plan to check the official reservation system or park information before you go. Whether you're launching a boat for a day on the lake, following the short East Fork Trail before dinner, or settling in for a quiet night under hardwoods, the campground's combination of water access, trail connections and basic services makes it a practical base for a wide range of outdoor activities.
