“Nice trails and clean facilities. Hiked the Red trail it's about 9 miles with several areas that pass by water. Will definitely go back. ”
“Great spot to hit the trail, campers be aware that the Trailhead campgrounds are very equestrian friendly and popular. ”
“This is a nice campground in a beautiful grove of trees. We enjoyed hiking the trails and relaxing at our site. The large herd of cows that hung out at the entrance to the campground kept me from morning jogs on the road (the cattle guard kept them out of the campground). ”

TADRA Point sits on Forest Service Road 900 just south of Cottonwood Lake, at the junction where the five loops of the 75-mile LBJ Multi-Use Trail System come together. The site functions primarily as a trailhead and equestrian staging area: volunteers from local riding groups built the facility, and it serves as headquarters for non-commercial events such as endurance rides. The trailhead area includes 20 parking spurs and six pull-throughs many with hitching posts plus a pavilion with a grill and water provided for horses. Although the trailhead offers substantial trailer and day-use parking, the official campsite inventory for TADRA Point lists a single campsite (one site that accommodates both RVs and tents), so overnight camping capacity on record is limited even though the parking area is large. Nearby recreation includes Cottonwood Lake and Little Cottonwood Lake for fishing, boating and swimming, and immediate access to multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and off-highway vehicle use. TADRA Point is managed on a strict first-come, first-served basis: campers must physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. In some cases you may be able to pay on-site by scanning a QR code with the Recreation.gov mobile app (use the Scan and Pay feature), but because cellular service can be limited or absent in remote parts of the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas you should download the free app in advance (https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app) if you plan to use that option. The trailhead is used throughout the year for group events, so expect periods of concentrated activity when endurance rides or group rides are scheduled. Practical points: the facility is well suited to horse camps and trailer users given the hitching posts, horse water and trailer spurs; riders and day users will find immediate access to the LBJ trail network; and picnic use is supported by the pavilion and grill.
