“Beautiful area, been 15 years since I've been there and really enjoyed the visit. Camp host Heather was amazing, definitely coming back.”

Bull Prairie Campground sits beside a 28-acre lake in Umatilla National Forest and feels like a small forested retreat framed by Ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir, grand fir and spruce. The site configuration includes 29 total campsites 28 that accommodate both tents and RVs plus one tent-only site and a single group campsite; there are no electrical hookups for RVs. Potable water is provided seasonally and eight accessible vault toilets are spaced through the loop, while a paved 1.2-mile trail circles the lake for jogging, biking or easy walks and connects to four accessible fishing docks. The lake is stocked with trout each year and offers a concrete boat ramp, dock and trailer parking for non-motorized craft (kayaks, canoes, paddleboards), but motorized boating is not permitted. Because there is no garbage collection, campers must pack out trash; a dump station is available for RVs at $4 per use (fee envelopes on site), and additional day-use or vehicle fees are also paid through on-site envelopes. Recreation at Bull Prairie is centered on the lake and the immediate forest: shoreline and dock fishing, lakeside picnicking in a large day-use area with accessible facilities, wildlife viewing (waterfowl, deer, squirrels and the occasional elk), and easy bike or foot access to nearby trailheads. The campground is connected by forest roads to the Morrow County OHV Park about eight miles north, but ATVs are restricted to the dump station area and the north campsites (sites 25 28) only; they are not allowed throughout the rest of the recreation site. Practicalities to note before you go: several sites (8, 11, 12 and 26) are designated as double sites ($19/night) and allow up to five vehicles, a group site (site 10) is $25/night and allows up to ten vehicles, and single sites carry an extra $5 fee for each vehicle beyond the two-vehicle allowance these site fees are charged in addition to the $8 reservation fee on recreation.gov. Cancellation rules apply: a $10 service fee is withheld on refunds, and last-minute cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) may forfeit the first night's fee; one-night reservations forfeit the entire amount paid. The closest full services and gas are in Heppner, roughly 40 45 miles to the north, with access to Bull Prairie reached from Highway 207 into the forest road system.
