“Cedro Peak camp sites are an absolute treasure. The sites are so convenient, always well kept, and perfect for a large group. I only wish they were open for more months during the year.”
“The campground was beautiful, the paved paths were level enough for myself and my friends to use mobility aid wheelchairs, and powerchair. The fire pits and grills were well made and perfect for our needs. Thank you so much. ”

Cedro Peak Camping Sites Robin and Jay sit in the southern Sandia Ranger District at about 7,400 feet in the Manzanita Mountains, surrounded by a mix of ponderosa pine, piñon and juniper on an arid, hilly landscape. There are exactly two group campsites here, and both accept RVs and tents and are fully accessible; Jay includes a circular turnaround drive suitable for a small travel trailer and both sites offer plenty of parking. The area ties directly into the forest's trail network: more than 80 miles of single-track and equestrian trails thread the district, and the local mountain-bike routes are geared to intermediate and advanced riders. Hikers and horseback riders will find long loop options and viewpoints that look northward toward the Sandia and Manzano ranges; limited off-road vehicle trails exist nearby. The open group areas also leave room for outdoor games and informal activities when you're not on the trails. The two sites are set up for large gatherings and basic comfort rather than hookups: each has picnic tables (some under shelters), grills and large campfire circles, with accessible vault toilets and bear-proof trash receptacles on site. Water, electricity and firewood/charcoal are not provided, and bears are known to frequent the area, so bring secure food and garbage containers. Capacity and fees are tiered by group size Jay holds up to 100 people and 27 vehicles (rates: $60 for 1 50 people, $80 for 51 75, $100 for 76 100), while Robin holds up to 150 people and 41 vehicles (rates: $60 for 1 50, $80 for 51 75, $100 for 76 100, $125 for 101 125, $150 for 126 150). A $10 non-refundable reservation fee is charged through recreation.gov; the gate lock combination is provided in your reservation confirmation. For reservations or questions call recreation.gov (877-444-6777) or the Sandia Ranger District office (weekdays, 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m.) at (505) 281-3304. Access is generally reached from State Highway 337 south of I-40 in the Cedro Peak area of Cibola National Forest.
