“Nice campground but dusty roads. Very nice and helpful hosts. ”
“The ladies who welcomed us on in was a great first impression. It was such a warm welcome. Clean and well monitored facility. ”
“The campsites are large and roomy. The restrooms were clean. The beach area is nice and has an ample swimming area. The Hosts were friendly. This campground gets a lot of use throughout the season, so the sites are barren of vegetation and can get dusty during dry periods. ”

Tally Lake Campground sits on the northern shore of Tally Lake in Flathead National Forest, roughly a 20 25 mile drive from Whitefish via US-93 and forest roads, with a final stretch on dirt road before you reach the campground. The site offers 40 campsites in total: 39 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site. Campsites come with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills; accessible vault toilets, drinking water, a dump station with a water fill station, and spigots for filling jugs (note: the spigots are not for filling RVs) are provided. An on-site host handles check-ins guests must check in with the host on arrival or risk forfeiture of the site and there is an open-air pavilion (available for group reservation) plus picnic beaches, a public volleyball net and a private volleyball net at the pavilion. The overnight stay limit is 16 consecutive nights. Individual sites are $20 per camper unit per night (first vehicle included; two motorized vehicles allowed per site with an extra vehicle charge of $5/day collected at arrival). Group site G1 rates are tiered by size: $100/night for 1 25 people, $175/night for 26 50, $250/night for 51 75, and $325/night for 76 100 people; there is no extra vehicle charge for the group site. To make reservations call 1-877-444-6777. Cancellations made within the 4-day reservation window are considered for a refund of camping fees only (the first night's fee is automatically forfeited); day-of-arrival cancellations must be reported by calling Cheryl at 406-752-PWAI (7924) or 406-404-4164. No-shows are not eligible for refunds. The lake and surrounding forest define much of the visitor experience: Tally Lake is Montana's deepest natural lake and the shore is framed by mature stands of Western larch and Douglas fir. Trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding run in the broader recreation area (note that horses are not allowed inside the developed campground itself), and wildlife viewing is reliable look for waterfowl, migratory birds and bald eagles along the shoreline. A dock and boat ramp give access to fishing for kokanee salmon, several trout species and northern pike, and the 1,326-acre lake is popular for boating, water-skiing and swimming; kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals are available at the campground. If you want to pair a camping trip with other nearby attractions, Whitefish Lake is about 20 miles away and the Forest Service Summit Nature Center at Whitefish Mountain Resort is roughly 25 miles from the campground (accessible by chairlift or trail). Whether you're launching a boat, paddling a quiet bay, or heading out on a bike or hiking loop, Tally Lake Campground offers a straightforward, well-serviced base in the highlands of northwestern Montana.
