“Wonderful weekend! It was quite and the temperature was perfect. ”
“Great out of the way campground on a nice reservoir. Site number 3 was level for our Coachman Nova. Well maintained site with mowed paths along lakeshore. Would definitely stay again. ”
“We have been fishing at Turkey Fork many times. This was our first experience staying at the campsite and it was very peaceful and relaxing.”

Turkey Fork Recreation Area sits on a 240-acre reservoir in the DeSoto National Forest and is the region's busiest spot for lake-centered recreation. The campground area contains 20 RV campsites in total; each site includes water and electric hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring with grill, and there's a campground host on site. Six of those RV sites can be reserved in advance while the remainder are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and flush toilets and showers are available at the bathhouses. The larger recreation footprint around the lake includes three bathhouses, a boat ramp and floating dock, two designated swim areas and a day-use picnic area with secluded spots near the beach. A 3/4-mile hiking trail links the day-use beach to the camping loop, so it's easy to move between swims, picnics and campsites without driving. Recreation at Turkey Fork focuses on water activities and fishing: the lake is stocked with bass and bluegill, and other reports list catfish and crappie as well, making it a solid choice for anglers; boating, swimming and other watersports are commonly enjoyed here. Beyond the immediate lakeshore, the DeSoto National Forest offers wider opportunities hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-highway vehicle routes are available elsewhere in the forest so you can combine a waterfront stay with broader trail-based outings. The area is in southeast Mississippi near the small communities of Richton and Sandhill, roughly a 30 40 mile drive from Hattiesburg and Laurel; access is by paved U.S. highways with a short county-road spur to the recreation area. Fees and seasonal rules can change, so check the U.S. Forest Service or reservation website before you go for current rates, opening dates and any vehicle or boat regulations.
