About

Hurricane Creek Campground sits on the wooded, rolling hills beside Lake Barkley near Eddyville, Kentucky, with direct access to the lake's 57,900 acres and more than 1,000 miles of shoreline. The setting favors water-based recreation: boaters and anglers turn out for bass and catfish, swimmers and water-sports enthusiasts find warm summer water temperatures, and shorelines and woods are good for watching white-tailed deer, raccoons and other local wildlife. Trails and paved bike routes in the Barkley Lake recreation area invite short hikes and longer rides, and the nearby three-mile Lake Barkley State Park Trail is an easy recommendation for a morning loop. Cultural and historic interests are also close at hand Land Between the Lakes and Fort Donelson National Military Park lie along Barkley's western shore, and the Lyon County Museum in Eddyville highlights regional history dating back to the late 19th century. The campground itself has 51 sites in all, with a breakdown of 45 RV sites and 6 tent (walk-to) sites, and most RV sites include water and electric hookups; six sites are designated as walk-to. On-site conveniences include hot showers, laundry facilities and a playground, so it's set up for family stays or multi-night boating trips. For practical matters like fees, reservations and seasonal availability, check the U.S. Forest Service or recreation.gov listings for Hurricane Creek Campground (physical address: 25 Hurricane Creek Campground Road, Eddyville, KY 42038) before you leave local access is from state highways off I-24 through Eddyville, and current conditions or special restrictions (boat access, site reservations, or service interruptions) are posted by the managing agency.
