Dunewood Campground sits on the southern shore of Lake Michigan inside Indiana Dunes National Park, where wind and waves have sculpted a varied landscape of dunes, prairies, wetlands and forests across 15,000 acres. The campground contains 66 sites arranged in two loops Douglas (32 sites) and Mather (34 sites) with 53 sites suitable for RVs and 13 intended for tents. Four sites are fully accessible, and the campground is generally accessible to visitors with mobility impairments. There are clean restrooms and hot showers on site, but no electrical or water hookups, and several sites have RV-length restrictions, so check individual campsite descriptions before you arrive. The nightly camping fee is $25 (separate from park entrance fees); a valid park pass or receipt is required for all visitors and may be purchased in advance through Recreation.gov or at park entry points, and Federal interagency passes are honored. From your campsite you're a short drive or bike ride away from 15 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and more than 50 miles of inland trails that cross dunes, oak savanna and marsh the park is known for strong plant and bird diversity, so spring and fall are prime times for birdwatching and wildflowers while summer brings easy beach access and evening sunsets. The park supports a wide range of activities including hiking, beach-going and swimming, fishing, paddling and boating, biking, auto touring, historic and cultural sites, picnicking and winter recreation like cross-country skiing on groomed trails. Practical nearby services include a gas station and convenience store about a quarter mile north on Broadway and the Beverly Shores South Shore Line station (passenger rail to Chicago and South Bend) also roughly a quarter mile away; Lake View Beach on Lake Michigan is about 1.5 miles north. Note that town beach lots in Beverly Shores are strictly enforced don't park there and seasonal changes affect facility hours, road access and ranger programs, so check the park calendar and directions before you go.
