“Great campground, wonderful unspoiled beach , nice trails. ”
“We had a great time at the Fort Pickens campground! We stayed in a tent at a site with power. It was a great spot, close to the water and restrooms! We will definitely be back!”
“Grounds and space were well kept. Beautiful park and scenery. Showers could definitely use some attention, peeling paint, no curtains, loose tiles.”

Fort Pickens Campground sits on Santa Rosa Island, the low-lying barrier island that separates the Gulf of Mexico from Pensacola Bay, and its campsites are a short walk from the white-sand beaches and dune trails that draw people here for swimming, snorkeling and long beach walks. Groves of live oaks dot the campground and provide shade for migrating and resident birds, while a fishing pier and picnic pavilions lie a short distance away (you don't need a Florida saltwater license to fish the pier). The 19th-century pentagonal Fort Pickens is roughly a mile from the campground and gives the area a strong historic presence; if you want a longer outing, downtown Pensacola, the Naval Aviation Museum and the Pensacola Lighthouse are all within easy driving distance. Note that the Fort Pickens area has no boat ramps, that pets are prohibited on gulf- and sound-side beaches, in forts, on ferries, piers, pavilions and inside facilities, and that park entrance fees are required for this area (a pass is valid for seven consecutive days). The campground has 188 sites in total: 174 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 14 tent-only sites, arranged across five loops (Loop A: 41 sites, Loop B: 13, Loop C: 45, Loop D: 29, Loop E: 59) plus one non-electric group site. Each campsite includes a fire ring, picnic table and a paved parking pad; many sites offer water and electric service (30 and 50 amp) and there are designated accessible sites (six with electricity and two without). Park amenities include heated showers, flush toilets, drinking water and a dump station, but there is limited overflow parking and some sites have low limbs or brush that restrict rig size pick a site that will fit all your equipment. Reservations are taken year-round (sites can be booked up to six months in advance with a 24-hour booking window); same-day availability is uncommon, there is no wait list or callback system, campers may not stay more than 14 consecutive days, and the park does not sell firewood, so bring your own if you plan to burn a campfire.
