“Beautiful spot. Great location near hiking and Napa. Not crowded either in the Winter time and the ranger was really nice to us. Only drawback is all the bathrooms were shut down. We were expecting to at least have running water. ”

Perched at the top of Rockpile Road on a ridge above the Warm Springs Arm of Lake Sonoma, Liberty Glen Campground offers broad lake views and immediate access to the park's trail network. It sits in the coastal foothills of Sonoma County amid vineyards and a landscape with a long local history, about 45 minutes north of Santa Rosa and roughly two hours from San Francisco; visitors typically approach via Healdsburg and Dry Creek Road, then follow the park road signs to the ridge. Trails begin within the campground and link to several named routes the Serpentine, Rancheria and Cove Trails making it easy to hike, mountain bike or ride out on horseback. The lake itself is a crossroads for boating, swimming and fishing: anglers target largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish and sunfish, and a small native population of rainbow trout persists. Park-wide amenities include an archery range, air rifle range, disc golf, an outdoor gym and a dog park, so there are activity options beyond the immediate campground loop system. Liberty Glen is a large, multi-loop facility with 102 campsites in total; of these, 100 are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, with one equestrian site and one glamping site also available. The campground's loops are laid out as follows: Loop A contains 50 sites, Loop B 35 sites, Loop C 11 sites, and Loops D, E and L each contain 1 site. In addition to single and double sites the campground includes one cabin site and two accessible group sites. Practical comforts are in place flush toilets, showers and drinking water are provided, and there's a playground for kids but shoreline access from Liberty Glen to the lake requires a fairly strenuous one-mile hike, so plan accordingly. For reservations, seasonal availability, fees and any access restrictions, consult the Lake Sonoma park reservation system or the managing agency before you go.
