Silver Strand SB: Gate Closure and Hours
All RVs must now back into their campsites. When the gates are locked, Silver Strand SB is unique and restricts campground vehicle access
into and out of the park each night. The seasonally posted hours are as follows: Gates close 7 pm in winter (11/1 – 2/28); 8 pm spring
(3/1 – Thursday before Memorial Day); 9 pm summer (Friday before Memorial Day – Labor Day); and 8 pm fall (Tuesday after Labor Day – 10/31).
Gates open year round at 7 am.
Dump Station
California State Parks wants to thank our park visitors for helping us keep our parks and environment clean. In 2018, State Parks installed new RV dump station collection systems at ten state park units as part of a pilot program to help us protect the environment and are added amenities for our visitors.
Following the success of the initial pilot program in 2018, an additional eleven park units have been added to the program. The service is available for campers, day-use or transient visitors for $10-$20 per use, depending on the location. Please note that visitors with current reservations arriving on or after April 13, 2021, who are interested in using the RV dump stations may be required to pay the use fee. Silver Strand State Beach features extensive beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. Combined with the area's mild climate, the beaches make Silver Strand one of the area's finest recreation destinations. Camping, swimming, surfing, boating, water-skiing, volleyball, and picnicking are popular activities. Anglers can fish for perch, corbina, grunion, and yellow-fin croaker. Shade ramadas, tables, barbecue pits, and fire rings may be available in the day use area. South of the developed area, there are one and a half miles of ocean and natural preserve. Strolling along the beach, visitors can see moonsnails, concleshells, and an occasional sand dollar in the sand.

Reservations can be made as soon as the same day or up to 6 months in advance, based on availability. Silver Strand State Beach Campground requires a self-contained camping unit and offers only hook-up sites.
